Triangulation Sensors
نویسنده
چکیده
Non-contact sensing is very desirable in many measurement situations. Non-contact sensors are free of probe wear or bounce, collect data at much higher rates than contact devices and do not influence the object being measured. Compared to capacitive and inductive devices, laser triangulation sensors have much larger standoff (distance from the sensor to the part). Compared to ultrasonic sensors, triangulation sensors are available with much higher resolution and accuracy specifications.

The Basics of Triangulation Sensors
riangulation sensors fall into the general category of noncontact height or range measurement devices. A triangulation sensor may provide the same information as a linear variable differential transformer or contact probe, but without touching the object to be measured. The sensors work by projecting a beam of light onto the object of interest and calculating the distance from a reference point...
متن کاملA Survey and Experimental Evaluation of Proximity Sensors for Space Robotics
This paper provides an overview of our selection process for proximity sensors for manipulator collision avoidance. Five categories of sensors have been considered for this use in space operations: intensity of re ection, triangulation, time of ight, capacitive, and inductive. From these categories, the most promising commercial and mature laboratory prototype sensors have been selected and tes...

متن کامل3D Image Sensors, an Overview
We briefly introduce the current state in the most widely used 3D image sensors in computer vision today. Passive and active sensing methods are discussed, with highlight on difficult computer vision problems that can be avoided by using active methods. Active optoelectronic imaging methods like time of flight, interferometry and triangulation are presented. The 3D image processing applications...
متن کاملRange Sensor 22 . Range Sensors
Range sensors are devices that capture the threedimensional (3-D) structure of the world from the viewpoint of the sensor, usually measuring the depth to the nearest surfaces. These measurements could be at a single point, across a scanning plane, or a full image with depth measurements at every point. The benefits of this range data is that a robot can be reasonably certain where the real worl...
